Recovery Gear | Everything You Need to Know
For most 4WDers, the basics are a recovery rope, rated shackles, and a pair of recovery boards. This setup will handle the majority of bogging or sand situations. From there, you can add winches, dampeners, or recovery kits as your trips get more serious.
All recovery gear is rated with a Working Load Limit (WLL). Match this to your vehicle’s GVM (Gross Vehicle Mass) and you’re good to go. Everything we stock is tested and rated for real 4WD conditions, so you’ll never be second-guessing whether your kit can handle the load.

Keep it all together so you can grab it fast when you need it. Many of our kits come with storage bags or boxes, and recovery boards can be mounted to roof racks or rear bars. Easy access means less stress when you’re bogged.
Safety is everything. Always use rated gear, never overload it, and keep bystanders out of the recovery zone. We recommend a recovery damper and gloves for extra protection. If you’re new, start with boards or straps, simple, effective, and safe.
