Sometimes you just have to laugh.
We headed out to tackle the Dwellingup Powerlines track, if you know it, you know it’s not the friendliest drives. Rutted-out sections, some steep climbs, and plenty of spots where you’ve got to pick your line or end up sitting on the diffs wondering where it all went wrong.
So we Dropped tyre pressures, and gave the trucks a solid run. It was everything we love technical driving, a bit of problem-solving, and that shared look between mates when you’re about to send it.
Eventually, after all that effort (and maybe a few choice words), we made it to this absolutely stunning waterhole.
Glass-calm water, surrounded by bush, no one else in sight. Out came the kayaks and floaties, and we spent hours just drifting around, soaking it all in. One of those rare finds that makes the whole mission worth it.
Gear Notes
-
Tyres at 16–18psi: Anything higher and you’re just making life harder than it needs to be.
-
Recovery gear essential: Snatch strap, shackles, and traction boards this track doesn’t mess around if you decide to go on the harder lines.
-
UHF comms: Handy when you’re navigating tight spots or calling out washouts ahead.
-
Cooling off gear: Floaties, kayaks, towel, and a dry bag. That waterhole’s a reward you’ll want to enjoy properly.
-
Skip the short cut once: It’s good for the return trip, but there’s something special about arriving the hard way. When you find the place, you'll know what i mean
