Loaded. Dragged. Scraped. Dropped.
Still doing its job.
Built to get dirty. Built to clean up
The matte black PVC won’t absorb dirt, sap, or moisture so it wipes clean and dries fast after a run.
Tested well beyond normal camp use
Both handle lengths tested under heavy load.
The Practical Stuff
How much firewood can it realistically carry?
As much firewood as you’d realistically carry around camp in one go without wrecking your back or knees.
Built from 1000D fabric, 550 gsm industrial PVC, and reinforced with heavy-duty webbing carry handles, the Ember Firewood Hauler is designed so construction strength isn’t the limiting factor.
In real-world use, bulk, your own balance, and your own carrying comfort will determine how much you load it.
Load it up with roughly cut firewood, carry it by hand or sling it over your shoulder, and get back to enjoying camp.
Will it dig into my shoulder when it’s loaded up?
It doesn’t dig in. The sling strap sits flat and carries well but it’s still firewood. Under a heavy load, the weight of the wood is what you feel, not the strap.
Why PVC instead of canvas?
Because canvas looks good… until you actually use it.
PVC:
- Doesn’t absorb water, sap, or dirt
- Doesn’t rot or stink over time
- Cleans up with a quick hose or wipe
Canvas slings get heavy, stay wet, and smell after a few trips. This stays clean and ready to go.
Is it heavy or bulky to store?
No.
When not in use, it:
- Rolls up
- Folds flat
- Takes up very little space
A lot of people store it inside their chainsaw bag, so it’s always ready to go with their cutting gear.
Care and Use
Cleaning:
Do not machine wash or dry
Simply use a hose, a light brush and leave it hanging to dry off
Avoid harsh chemicals, solvents, or degreasers, as they aren’t required and can damage PVC finishes.
Storage note: For best appearance, avoid scrunching it into a tight ball or forcing it into small pockets. Like most PVC materials, heavy creasing can cause cosmetic crinkling over time. This doesn’t affect strength or performance.
Why It’s Called the Harvey Hauler
The Harvey Hauler came from nights around big fires.
Harvey, WA is known for hard wheeling, muddy tracks, long recoveries, earning your way through the bush. It’s one of my favourite places to camp because I know I’m in for a proper muddy 4WD session every time. But for me, it’s always been about what happens after.
Dragging in way too much firewood.
Cracking too many beers.
Sitting back, staring into the flames and up at the sky, remembering how small we all are.
That’s why I go camping.
Doing constant firewood runs gets old though. and can take a lot of time and effort. Building a proper fire takes time, especially when you’re feeding something big. The Harvey Hauler was built to fix that.
Less trips.
Cleaner carry.
Less effort.
No beer left behind.
