Twisted Event 2026: Ember Adventure Gear Gets Involved in WA Competitive 4WD
Three days on the track. One hell of an introduction to competitive 4WD in Western Australia.
When we recently got our competition truck, I wanted to find out what the competitive 4WD scene in WA was actually like.
So rather than simply turning up as spectators, Ember Adventure Gear joined the track team and marshalled the Twisted Event for three days in 2026.
It gave us a front-row look at what competitive 4WD is all about, and more importantly, the people and community behind it.
Getting Involved With the Twisted Event
The Twisted Event brought together 4WD competitors, crews and spectators for a weekend of serious off-road competition.
There were rollovers.
Blown diffs.
Blown driveshafts.
Petrol pouring out of vehicles.
And plenty of yelling and screaming from the sidelines as people cheered their mates through the tough stuff.
It was exactly the sort of controlled chaos you'd expect from a competitive 4WD event.
For Ember, though, being part of the track team and marshalling the event was about more than watching trucks tackle the course.
It was about getting amongst the WA 4WD community and seeing the competitive side of the sport for ourselves.
More Than Just Competitive 4WD
The organisers put on a bloody good event.
There were more than $5,000 worth of prizes and giveaways across the weekend, giving competitors and spectators plenty to get excited about.
It's something we'd love to contribute to ourselves in the future, with the goal of sponsoring prizes and giveaways for the Twisted Event in 2027.
But as impressive as the racing was, that wasn't what we took away from the weekend.
It was the community.
That's the part that really stuck with us.
Once the racing was finished, the trucks came off the track, the bonfire was lit and the beers started flowing.
People were sitting around laughing about the day's carnage the broken parts, the close calls, the wins and the things that definitely didn't go according to plan.
Competitors who had spent the day trying to beat each other were sitting around together afterwards, talking about the event, helping each other out and having a laugh.
And that's what makes the WA 4WD community so bloody good.
Why Ember Adventure Gear Gets Involved
We're building Ember Adventure Gear around more than just 4WD camping gear.
We want to be involved in the community that actually uses this stuff.
That means getting out to 4WD events, shows, competitions, club days, camping trips and community clean-ups wherever we can.
The Twisted Event was our first real look into competitive 4WD in WA, and it gave us a pretty good idea of where we want Ember to fit.
Not just on the sidelines.
Out there with everyone else.
We'll definitely be back.
