Logue Brook Dam Rubbish Clean-Up July 2025
Logue Brook Dam has been a favourite camping spot of mine for years.
I've spent plenty of good times there in the past, which is why returning in July 2025 was pretty disappointing.
The amount of rubbish being left around the dam and surrounding camping areas has become hard to ignore.
So rather than just complaining about it, I decided to spend the day cleaning it up.
A Trailer Full of Rubbish in Just a Few Hours
It didn't take long to realise just how bad the problem had become.
Within only a few hours, I'd filled the trailer with rubbish.
I also collected multiple bags of waste from around the area, including a pretty confronting amount of used toilet paper.
It wasn't just the occasional bit of rubbish that had been left behind.
There was rubbish spread throughout the area, and it quickly became obvious that this wasn't something that had happened overnight.
This has been building for a long time.
And that's the frustrating part.
Places like Logue Brook Dam are there for all of us to enjoy. They're places to camp, explore, get the 4WD out and spend time outdoors.
But they only stay that way if people actually look after them.
Not Every Clean-Up Is Enjoyable
I'll be honest, I didn't particularly enjoy this clean-up.
Some of the people I came across weren't particularly friendly, and I also had some issues around the campsite that night that made the trip less enjoyable than I'd hoped.
That's a shame because I remember Logue Brook Dam being a very different place when I used to visit years ago.
Maybe my experience this time was simply an unfortunate occurrence. One weekend certainly isn't enough to judge everyone who visits the area.
But the rubbish is a different story.
The build-up of rubbish around Logue Brook Dam has been an ongoing issue, and it was pretty hard to ignore once I started looking around.
Why We Still Clean Up
Despite not having the best experience, I'm still glad I did it.
At Ember Adventure Gear, we spend a lot of time outdoors.
We're camping, 4WDing, exploring and using the same places as everyone else.
So if we're going to enjoy these areas, we think we should also be prepared to help look after them.
A clean-up isn't going to solve the entire problem.
But picking up a trailer load of rubbish is better than leaving it there.
And hopefully, the more people who take responsibility for the places they visit, the less often these clean-ups will be necessary.
Looking After WA's Camping Spots
Logue Brook Dam is still a beautiful part of Western Australia and a place that plenty of campers and 4WDers enjoy.
It would be a real shame to see the rubbish problem continue to grow until it changes the way people experience the area.
The answer isn't complicated.
Take your rubbish with you.
Don't leave toilet paper scattered around the bush.
Respect the campsite.
And leave the place at least as good as you found it.
For us, this is just the beginning.
